April / May 2005 - NEWSLETTER

Dear Cross Stitchers,

Hope you had a good Easter! I'm in the middle of the Easter school holidays so any of you who have or have had school age children will know what that's like! That is my excuse for getting the April newsletter out late anyway. In Cornwall workmen always say they will be there 'dreckly' which means anytime in the next 6 months if you're lucky! So this is our newsletter in true Cornish spirit!

Happy Stitching - Linda

Joy was at her God daughter's son's Christening on Easter Sunday. Six months old Thomas Francis is now the proud owner of his very own name sampler which is hanging over his cot. With her busy schedule running the business it took Joy 3months to complete the stitching and it was a last minute rush to get it to the framers in time. Doesn't it look delightful!

P.S. My 10 year son was reading this over my shoulder and said in a very puzzled voice "That can't be right". When asked why he replied "Well, God is dead, his son is dead and his daughter is probably dead too!". Well how can you answer that?

Thomas Francis

IDEA OF THE MONTH - Needlework Bags

Why not personalise your very own natural cotton calico bag with your name in cross-stitch to keep all your needlework clean and tidy!

If worked in 14 count aida (28 count evenweave) you can have up to 4 capital letters or 1 capital and 8 lower case. If worked in 18 count aida you can have up to 6 capital letters or 1 capital and 10 lower case. These are the figures for a large tote bag (for other sizes click on Tote Bags or Drawstring Bags at top of page)

We recommend the large tote and if you make the name into a pocket you can keep all the little things in it that normally get lost in the bottom.

OVERSEAS NEWS

A new idea from Jilly.

Our first order from Jilly was for AmandA - "Love, worthy of love precious thing" and BritTanY - "from England strong industrious" - we must admit we were a little confused in the first instance! So Joy did a little reseach and found that these were the meanings of the names. What a wonderful idea!

Jilly also had the idea of mixing upper and lower case lettering. Which is brilliant if you have a long name like 'BRITTANY'.

Jilly then went on to order DaviD - "beloved one" and TrenTon - "Town by the Rapids".

Why not have a look at these sites to find the meaning of your name.

'I was so impressed I took them to work to show everyone the packaging.  So neat to get a package that also says 'Royal Mail".  In fact I ordered my remaining two today' - Jilly (USA)
